What does Hi / Lo means?
Hi / Lo means that the pot will be divided between the highest hand and the lowest hand, when there is a qualifying low hand for this action. In low hand rankings, the individual value of each of the five cards must be unique.
The suits and sequences considered (colors and sequences) will not be considered when qualifying low hands, making them eligible to qualify as high and low hands at the same time. Aces, in addition to being the highest card in the high hand range, are used as the lowest card in the low hand range.
The highest card is a five
Also known as "bicycle", consisting of a 5, 4, 3, 2 and an Ace.
Tied hand: it is the smallest low hand that exists. If there are two or more such hands in contest, the pot splits.
The highest card is a six
Five cards with a unique value, being the highest card 6.
Tied hand: it is the smallest low hand that exists. If there are two or more such hands in contest, the pot splits.
The highest card is a seven
Five cards with a unique value, being the highest card 7.
Hand tied: If there are two or more hands of this type in the game, it wins the second lowest card in the ranking. The third, fourth and fifth highest cards in the ranking are used when necessary. If the hands have the same value, the pot splits.
The highest card is an eight
Five cards with a unique value, the highest card being an 8. This is the weakest hand and qualifies as a "low hand".
Tied hand: If there are two or more of such hands in contest, it wins the second lowest card in the ranking. The third, fourth and fifth highest cards in the ranking are used when necessary. If the hands have the same value, the pot is splitted.
